Hi everyone! How was everyone’s weekend? I’m hoping it was good. 🙂
On the posting schedule today is a quick review on the SuperGoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50 which I received in July’s PopSugar Must Have Box. Let’s get to it.
Described as “an innovative three-in-one mist that sets makeup, helps control oil and shine, and refreshes your defense against photoaging UV rays with an uplifting scent of rosemary and mint.”
Pros
Portable/Travel friendly
Sunscreen factor
Mattifying
Excellent concept
Cons
Rosemary and mint can be irritating for some individuals
Created a burning sensation on my face
Potential health hazard from inhalation of sunscreen
Nozzle doesn’t always spray product on evenly
Overall: As much as I love the concept of this product- refreshing skin/makeup while providing essential SPF protection- it didn’t work for me. Every time I sprayed this product, my face has this uncomfortable burning/tingling sensation that lingered. Also, for most spray-on sunscreen formulations, it needs to be rubbed in for the full effect which is hard to do if you have a face full of makeup. There’s also the concern of potential health hazards with accidental inhalation of the product. I did find that this really kept the oily parts in my skin matte though. In the meantime, I take this with me to theme parks or when doing outdoor activities and use it on my body, making sure to hold my breath while applying. However, once it’s finished I will not be purchasing.
Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts?
Stephanie

I do love the concept and a spray form is convenient but won’t use on my face anymore due to the burning sensation.

I bought this nearly two months ago and as much as I like the concept I just don’t pick it up!
Sorry to hear that it caused a reaction when you applied it!
stephieestie says
I was sad too but well at least I’m able to use it on my body. I’m thinking it may be the rosemary that created a reaction. ?

Good to know it’s not all that
stephieestie says
Sadly, I don’t think it is worth it. ? Their normal sunscreen is good though.
StyledWithJoy says
Ooh I should try the sunscreen. I like trying out new ones!

If your nearby Sephora carries them, you could always get a sample there. 🙂

I never thought to get spf samples before. Just makeup ones! Thanks 🙂

That’s too bad this spray irritated your face! I’ve never tried this brand or product. I like the name -Supergoop. Anything with the word “goop” in it deserves a go at it 🙂 yayyyy
stephieestie says
I know and it is so uncomfortable. ? Yes, the name is interesting isn’t it? ?

That’s good that you try out different products to see which one you prefer. Smart move 🙂 yes, the name is interesting! Haha

I’m sorry that this look didn’t work for you! Thank you for the review though. I’ve been curious about this whole line of skin products.

They can’t all be winners. ? However, I am a fan of their normal sunscreen so you may find luck there. ? I know Birchbox has given a few samples of them recently.

I received a sample size of this and I’m definitely not a fan. I thought this was a pretty thick spray. I didn’t mind the smell but with how thick it came out, it felt very heavy on my face. Definitely not something I’ll be picking up.
stephieestie says
It smells nice but yeah, not for me.:( The spray sprays out so uneven too.

Good thing it’s spf 50 but why did it irritated your face lovely?

I’m thinking it may have been the Rosemary extract. It just felt like my face had a slight burn. ?

Auch! Sounds really unpleasant… To say the least! ?
stephieestie says
Yeah not for me. 🙁
