October, sometimes referred to as ‘Pinktober’, is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With a 1 in 8 probability of women developing breast cancer in their lifetime, early detection is key. This can be achieved through:
- Monthly breast self-exams
- Routine clinical exams and mammograms
- Maintaining a healthy weight
- Staying physically active
- Eating fruits and vegetables
- Not smoking
- Limiting alcohol consumption
