Hello everyone! Hoping everyone had a great Easter weekend!
I’ve been asked about what I recommend for dark circles before and more recently Katie from Plus+Beauty also mentioned this concern (hi Katie!).
Q: What’s good for dark circles under the eyes?
A:
Dark circles can be caused by:
- Sun damage
- Veins and/ or capillaries showing through the skin
- Allergies
- Genetics
What to Use/Do
- Products with retinol or vitamin C can help brighten the area.
- An eye cream with SPF and sunglasses can help prevent more darkening if it’s caused by the sun.
- Talking to your doctor if allergies are the culprit to see what options are available
- A peach colored concealer can help neutralize the appearance of dark circles
- Sometimes fillers like Radiesse or light treatments can help.
Product Recommendations
- Kate Somerville Line Release Under Eye Repair
- Algenist Firming and Lifting Eye Gel
- Dermaologica Total Eye Care SPF 15
- Le Miuex Eye Wrinkle Corrector
- Renee Rouleau Vitamin C Eye Brightener
- Eve Pearl Dual Salmon Concealer
These are a few products I have tried and liked but if you have another eye cream that works, please share!
Have a lovely Tuesday!
Stephanie

Great tips! Is it just me or does elevating your head more with pillows help? I got new pillows & my dark circles are not as bad as before. Not gone, but better.
stephieestie says
I know that elevating your head helps puffiness but not sure about dark circles. Can it be maybe because the new pillows provide more support and help you sleep better? Just a thought. Or the pillows had some kind of allergens? Glad to hear they aren’t as bad though. 🙂
theworldofcos says
You are probably right I am sleeping better! ?
stephieestie says
🙂 Speaking of, I need a new pillow myself. I forgot to mention sleep but Jen brought it up.

Perfection! 🙂
stephieestie says
Hoping this kind of helps people figure out different causes for dark circles. 🙂
thepinkimpact says
Yes for sure! 🙂
Jen says
Good to know! I think if we’re talking mostly about the eye are I know a lack of sleep causes some dark circles. I know I look godawful if I haven’t had enough sleep and my under eye area will show it. How do you feel about cucumbers for dark circles?
stephieestie says
I think the water content and coolness can help the appearance a bit, especially puffiness, but again, it all depends on what is causing it in the first place. Yes, I forgot to include lack of sleep! Thank you for bringing it up Jen! Same here. If I don’t get enough sleep, my eyes are the first sign to give me away.
Jen says
I just have lack of sleep all the time with my kids so it was easy to remember that one. lol
stephieestie says
🙂 Just a few more years and you’ll sleep a little better. I love smelling lavender before I got to sleep and it does help me.
Jen says
Mmm, love the smell of lavender! It does help relax me. Yep just a few more years and both boys will be in school full time and it will be a little easier. I tell you the first 2yrs is the hardest with a baby/toddler. He’s almost 2, so we’re getting there. lol
stephieestie says
Just hang in there. 🙂
Jen says
I do & will! I love every minute of it! 🙂
stephieestie says
It seems like it’s worth it! 🙂 Plus, they are so cute!
Jen says
Aw, thanks! Xo

Eve pearl really works well to neutralize!
stephieestie says
Right? It covers up really well and you don’t need a lot.

Hi Stephanie!! I think my dark eye circles are a combination of allergies and genetics unfortunately. I will try using the peach colored concealer under my eyes. I have a coastal scents concealer palette that has that shade. Are there any under eye creams that are good from the drugstore? 🙂
stephieestie says
Don’t you just love genetics sometimes, lol. I haven’t tried many from the drugstore but I did use and like the Garnier Rollerball concealer. The rollerball feels cool on contact (great for puffiness) and it conceals at the same time. It’s more of a concealment than a treatment though. I’ll let you know if I find anything else. 🙂

Oh that sounds great Stephanie! Thank you! 🙂

You’re welcome! 🙂

You are a saves Steph! I’m having a lot of trouble with dark circles since last year… I guess it’s mostly because of sleep. I’m sleeping better now and that has definitely helped to reduce them but given my skin’s complexion, they still look a bit weird… I conceal them with >> Garnier Eye (Light) Anti Dark Circle Roll On but sometimes it make my eyes water!
I checked out the products you mentioned, but more than half are not available in India and the rest are too expensive (in our currency!)
Can you suggest some natural or home made remedies (pack or scrub?)
Thanks a lot for this helpful post dear!
gave a glorious day!!! <3
stephieestie says
So sorry to hear that Heena. I think I’ve tried the Garnier one and I like it but I know what you mean about the eyes watering; might be the alcohol in it. Plus it’s more of a concealment rather than treatment. I’ll look into something more affordable that might work and get back to you. As for the concealer, maybe check out a peach colored one by NYX or something. 🙂 Have a good week!

**typo** You are a “saviour” Steph!
stephieestie says
Hehe. I know, autocorrect has given me some weird stuff sometimes. 🙂

My dark circles are like 70% genetics and 30% my nocturnal nature. I guess I need to get those concealers 😉

I like them but any peach concealer should do. 🙂

Great tip as usual!! I used to have dark circles when I was really tired or didn’t get enough sleep, putting hot (warm) towel on eye area after taking bath worked for me 🙂 And I love Algenist’s Firming and Lifting Eye Gel too!
stephieestie says
Thanks! And good to know! 🙂

Vaseline is great too believe it or not. It’s also good for growing your eyelashes
stephieestie says
I’ve never heard of Vaseline for dark circles before. Interesting. I’d just be a bit careful if you have a tendency to develop milia around the eye area because it maybe a bit too heavy but thanks for sharing this. 🙂
