Happy Thursday everyone! I was at Target the other day and was thrilled to find the new Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Colors on the shelves. Here’s my review on it.
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color in Nude Flush
Described as, “bold, vivid color [that] glides easily onto lips for a velvety matte finish. Formula is comfortable and creamy with a smooth feel upon application.”
Pros
Budget friendly
Good pigmentation
Good color selection
Glossy
Cons
Made my lips feel numb
Not matte
Fragrance might be bothersome to some
Easily transfers/comes off when eating
Overall: Unfortunately, this didn’t work at all for me as I think I had an allergic reaction to it. As soon as I applied it, my lips felt very numb. At first I thought my reaction was similar to what I get when I apply lip plumping glosses but the numbness never faded away. The second day I tried it, again my lips felt numb and this time they really started to hurt so I immediately wiped it off. This applied like a gloss and isn’t really sticky but it never dried down to a matte finish. About 2 hours into wearing them, I could still rub my lips together and get a glossy feel. Upon drinking and eating, the lipstick wore off completely, so this product doesn’t last long. Even if I didn’t have a reaction to this, I would still return this as the name is misleading, and, in my opinion, you’re better off sticking to the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Colors.
A swatch of the shade Nude Flush. These are nicely pigmented as I only swiped it once across my arm to get this color.
Have you tried these ones? What’s your opinion on them?

Oh that’s weird this made your lips numb. Maybe you’re slightly allergic to it? It’s good that you can return this! I really like the the tube design of this though – too bad about the product inside!

I think so. I actually read yesterday that a couple of people have actually had the same reaction. Yes, the concept/design is great but ultimately it fails to deliver and the fact that it made my lips numb is no bueno.

Such a shame to hear you reacted to this product because the colour is very pretty! I suppose it’s better you found something else wrong with it so it makes returning it easier than loving a product and not being able to use it 🙂
stephieestie says
Yes, that is true. I’m not the only one who seems to have this reaction though so that’s good to know.
Chanelle says
In some ways that’s not reassuring if so many other people are reacting to a product 🙁
stephieestie says
True, I just meant it’s not just me, like I wasn’t imagining it or anything. It is horrible that other people have experienced this and I wish I knew what ingredient specifically it is so that I can avoid it in the future.

What a rip! I can’t believe it’s not even matte, what’s the point? 🙁
stephieestie says
Yeah, I don’t get the name either if it’s really glossy. I much prefer the lipsticks.

I had lip numbness with a similar lip product from a Buxom lipgloss. That’s really too bad. 🙁
stephieestie says
Scary. 🙁 This one was pretty bad. I dislike Buxom lipglosses to a max, lol. Can’t stand the scent of them.

The product did the exact same thing to my lips too! I left the color on long enough for a photo and then I wiped them straight off. Maybe that’s part of product’s formula or something. Mine never dried down matte either.
stephieestie says
I’m so sorry to hear that Taylor. In a way though I’m glad to know it’s not just me. I wonder what ingredient causes that. Yeah over all, I can’t see it being considered a matte.

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard some You-tubers say the same thing about the numb lips, so it might not just be your reaction to these, which is actually kind of concerning. The pigmentation is impressive though!
stephieestie says
Yes the pigmentation is impressive but the numbness is scary. 🙁

Anne says

It really is. I’ve read that I am not the only one whose had this experience. Yes, the lips are back to normal, thank God, because they hurt. 🙁
Anne says
oh no, it is definitely off the list now. No product is worth that! Glad to hear everything is fine now.
stephieestie says
Yes, everything is good now but scary experience. 🙁
