Skin Tip: Skin Cancer Reminder!

Happy Friday everyone!

Today’s skin tip hits close to home as my grandfather recently discovered he has skin cancer on his ear. Thank God it was caught on time but it serves as a reminder that we need to make sure we are covering all our exposed areas when applying sunscreen.  Our ears and the tops of our feet are commonly forgotten places but areas where skin cancer can develop.    It’s also a good reminder to have yearly checkups with a dermatologist for safety measures.

Skin Tip: Pumpkin Seeds for Acne!

With pumpkin-themed items surrounding us everywhere, here’s some food for thought.  Pumpkin seeds contain zinc which may help relieve acne as zinc helps control the sebaceous (oil) glands and aids in healing the skin.  Something to think about next time you choose a snack, no?

With fall and cooler weather around, now is the perfect time to have more invasive skincare treatments such as chemical peels and laser treatments to help with uneven skin tone and reveal a rejuvenated appearance.

Skin Tip: How to Soften the Appearance of Fine Eye Lines!

Friday is finally here- yay!  Time for a skin tip.

An easy way to minimize the appearance of fine lines around the eyes is to moisturize with an eye cream. Lines and wrinkles are more prominent when the skin is dry and adding hydration softens the look.

Skin Tip: Relax…It's Good For Your Skin!

It’s Friday and my how this week zoomed by!

This weekend, spend some time doing something that relaxes you.  Most skin conditions are exacerbated by stress so whether it be reading a good book or going out for a walk, find something that works for you and carve a little bit of time to do it. Your mind, body and skin will thank you.

Skin Tip For This Labor Day Weekend!

It’s Friday and it brings Labor Day weekend with it! Yay! Any fun plans?

Speaking of Labor Day, if you’re planning on firing up the grill this weekend keep this tip in mind.  If you happened to get sunburned, the heat generated from the grill can further aggravate an already irritated complexion.  Keep some aloe vera gel (and maybe some ibuprofen) handy if this is the case.

Skin Tip: Sun Sensitivity and Medication!

Happy Friday everyone!

If you noticed that lately you’re more prone to getting sunburned all of a sudden, certain medications may be the culprit.  Antibiotics, anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen and antihistamines like Benadryl can cause you to be more sensitive to the sun.  Always use sunscreen and wear wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses to further protect you from the sun.

Skin Tip: Eye Cream 411!

Happy Friday everyone!  Can’t believe another week has flown by!

It’s that time again for my Friday skin tip. 🙂

If you find that applying eye cream directly under your eyes causes irritation, try applying it on top of your cheekbone (zygomatic bone) with your ring finger at night.  The eye cream will slowly migrate upwards throughout the night.

Skin Tip: How to Layer Skincare Products!

Happy Friday everyone!

Can you believe I had a post every single day this week?  I’m trying to squeeze as much as I can given my Summer Must Have series is taking up the majority of this month.  I do hope you’re enjoying that so far. 🙂

On to my skin tip.

When layering skincare products the rule of thumb is to apply water to cream.  For example, after cleansing you would apply your toner, followed by serums and lastly, your moisturizer.  In the daytime, your moisturizer would go underneath sunscreen.
