Hi everyone!
While at Sephora a few weeks back, I saw the LAVANILLA deodorant by the checkout line and with rave reviews from many people, I decided to pick up the travel size.

Pros
Good odor protection if you’re doing light errands
Smooth application
No white marks left on clothing
Travel-size options
Good array of scents
Cons
Expensive ($14 for full size)
Doesn’t keep you dry
Doesn’t effectively combat odor if you’re working out
Overall: I have mixed feelings about this deodorant. If you’re doing light errands and aren’t sweating much throughout the day, this deodorant does a good job keeping odor at bay and it smells great. I find that it doesn’t leave behind white marks and it feels like a cooling gel when applied. When it comes to my workouts though, that’s a different story. I do kickboxing 4 times a week and sometimes I do an hour of Zumba prior and unfortunately, I could smell my body odor by the end of my workout. I did reapply but it just smelled like vanilla mixed with BO. So. Not. Pretty. And quite frankly embarrassing. There isn’t any wetness protection either -at least not in my experience. While I wanted to love this deodorant, it just doesn’t cut it for me.
What’s your favorite deodorant to use?

I won a Vanilla and Coconut version in Stashy’s giveaway and I have slightly mixed feelings too. When I first wore it in summer I didn’t even have to do much and I could smell the effects we’re wearing off. It’s cooled down a bit now and I apply it after I shower at nighttime and it’s much better.

Hi Chanelle! Yes, I do think the weather has a lot to do with it too. If it’s colder and raining, then it works a lot better but once temperatures rise or I start sweating, it doesn’t work as I expect it to. How do you like the coconut scent?

I like Schmidt’s deodorant, I find that it is the best one that I’ve tried so far.

Haven’t heard of it but I will look into it. Thanks!

I’ve started to scale back using my regular deodorant but I don’t think I’ll ever get to a point where I can’t use it – I just sweat way too much. I use Mitchim on days where I know I’ll be sweating lots or when it’s really hot and natural deodorant when it’s cooler or I know I won’t be doing much. It seems to work and it’s better than just using regular deodorant all time. I always use unscented deodorants though – I hate smelling my deodorant all day. I love the scent of these but I prefer them in perfume form.
I used the word deodorant 5 times in that paragraph! Haha

Agreed. There are arguments on both sides of the deodorant issue so it all depends on your preference. I think the danger aspect blown a bit out of proportion but that’s just me. It doesn’t hurt to try other options though. Oh, I hate smelling deodorant on me too. There are certain scents that easily mix with your own BO and it’s nauseating. :/ It’s hard not to use the word, lol. 🙂

The main reason why I switched from antiperspirants to deodorants is because I just don’t think it’s healthy for me to prevent my armpits from sweating. It’s not so much about the aluminium fears. I’d rather just let myself sweat (which took some getting used to) – I’d just prefer not for the sweat to turn smelly! I tried a bunch of deodorants and the Lavanila is the best one for me so far!

I don’t think I’ve found any anti-perspirant that really has kept me dry as they claim. Never knew if I was the exception because as I’ve learned throughout the years, my body is so weird. I mean I know our bodies are different, but mine sometimes is just too picky and finicky. Yes, I agree I don’t like to smell either. Although, I learned in my UCLA class that, there’s been studies that men’s underarm sweat contains phermones that have powerful effects on women such as, and I quote, brightening our moods, reducing tension and increasing relaxation. I find the smell of BO repulsive and I can’t even imagine having that scent ‘relax’ me when I want to barf, lol. Seriously, this is an actual study and I for one am so glad I was not a participant in this. I’m like gagging as I type this, lol. Maybe I should try the Lavanilla sport one.
