Hi readers! If you follow me on Instagram, you know my friend and fellow beauty blogger Jen from In the Beauty Box sent me a box (thanks Jen!) filled with some awesome products. Among them were samples of the Bite Beauty Lip Mask which I’ve been curious about but never got around to actually trying them. Needless to say, I was thrilled and I’ve been putting these to the test. Here’s my thoughts.
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask
Described as a “soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in lips. This innovative, natural formula smooths, nourishes, and moisturizes lips with a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple the amount of antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine.”
Pros
Provides a barrier for lips
Long-lasting
Works well under lipstick
Not sticky
Sheer tints
Cons
Thick consistency makes it hard to take out
Not very hydrating
Pricey
Lanolin might be an irritant to some
Overall: I have mixed feelings about this product. Due to the thick consistency, it was a little hard to take out and apply; however, once it warms up a bit though it becomes easier. While this does provide a protective barrier around lips, oddly, I don’t find it very hydrating. It does feel very nice and luxurious once it’s on but if you have very dry lips, I don’t feel it does much. I do find that exfoliating lips first is essential in achieving smoother lips. The lip mask works well under lipsticks and I didn’t find it sticky. Individuals who are allergic or sensitive to lanolin will want to steer clear as it is the main ingredient in the lipstick. The sample I received included the original, and the tinted ones in Smashed and Champagne. The colors are a bit more on the sheer side, which is nice if you want a bit of a tinted sheen. I don’t consider this a ‘must have’ lip product but more of a luxury item that if you can afford to indulge in, then by all means give this a try.
Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts on it?

Thanks for the review! I’ve been curious about the Agave lip masks for awhile, and I even had requested a sample when I ordered from Sephora a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it got swapped out for something entirely different instead. 😛 I was hoping for something I could use a couple times a week to give a little boost to the By Terry Baume de Rose that I wear to bed each night. I guess the search continues!

That sucks when they swap it out for something different. 🙁 I like the product but I just don’t feel it was as hydrating as I expected, and for the price, I want it to do more than just feel nice. It may work out for you though. I know a lot of people swear by it. 🙂

Oh the By Terry Baume de Rose sounds divine!

I’ve tried all 3 and I like them. I liked putting this on my lips right before bed and let it work overnight.

I usually tend to breakout if I sleep with lip products on and since this is thick, I don’t want to risk it. Glad it works for you. 🙂

I’ve never even heard of these. They look lovely and I love trying out new lip products.

It didn’t quite work out the way I had hoped but it may work out differently for you. 🙂

I want to get the natural one as an overnight lip treatment. It looks something that will stick around at night so when I wake up, I’ll have soft protected lips!
stephieestie says
Yes, this will definitely stick. It is nice, just not as hydrating as I would like. Your lips will definitely be protected though. 🙂

Aw! I was hoping it was amazing as it is on my wishlist.
stephieestie says
Well I would say to get a sample and give it a try. It may work differently for you. 🙂

I’ve been intrigued by these lip masks for quite some time now. It kinda sounds like it’s Carmex but with a hefty price tag. I think I’ll skip this one for sure. Thanks for the review!

Yes, now that you mention it,it kind of is. If you have the money, then by all means splurge but it just didn’t wow me enough to by the full size. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Hi Stephanie! I held off on commenting when I first saw your review because at the time I had only used it once. So I used it again Friday night and Saturday night to get a better feel for it. I used the mini tube that came in the Bite Discovery Kit. It got off to a bad start for me because after I took off the silver seal from the tube, I could NOT get the product out! I mean, I was squeezing the HECK out of that tube y nada! Lol! I gave up and as I was twisting the cap back on I noticed the inner part of the cap has a little piquito thing in it. Duh! I guess I was supposed to use that to poke through the seal. Lol! So even though I had already peeled off the seal, I still gave it a poke and then I was finally able to squeeze out the product. Geez! Some instructions on the packaging would be nice. Lol!
Anyway, I did like the product itself. Like others who commented, I also like it as an overnight treatment. The thickness of it makes my lips feel nice and protected without being sticky. And when I wake up in the morning, my lips don’t feel dry at all. But I didn’t like it to wear during the day under my lipcolor. I tried putting lip liner over it and the color wasn’t applying the way it normally does. It was more sheer and I didn’t like that. So I’ll keep using it as an overnight treatment. $26 for the full size is too much for me though. I have $3 lip balms that feel just as good. Lol! But if it ever comes in another kit or set that I buy, I will definitely use it.

Hi Adriana! Oh no, how funny, lol. I probably would have done the same thing. I think because the product is so thick, some people have a harder time squeezing it out. I think I read that the tube started breaking off a bit from the sides. :/ At least you got it to work though. 🙂 I’m glad you liked it. I like the product, it’s just that aside from it feeling smooth and protected, I didn’t really feel it hydrated my lips. That’s just me though and I feel like I’m the minority with this opinion. I usually breakout when I leave certain lip balms on overnight so I didn’t want to risk it. Yes, this will definitely sheer out the products but I don’t mind that and I wore it under the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme so it was a nice touch. However, at $26, I really want this to perform on every level, especially hydration, so unless I get a free sample or discount, I won’t really go out of my way to purchase it. Thanks for stopping by and letting me know your thoughts. 🙂

Great review! Yes, lanolin can be an allergen, thank goodness you didn’t have a reaction. I really didn’t even think of that when I sent it too you.
stephieestie says
Thanks! No worries, I’m actually glad you sent me the samples. I do like it, i just don’t feel the price is justified and I didn’t find it super hydrating.
